This year-end is marked by the commercial launch of our exceptional cuvée, Clos de La Chaize Monopole 2020!

Encased in an elegant vegan leather box crafted from grape marc, this bottle embodies the best of Brouilly while showcasing a truly ethical approach to repurposing winemaking by-products and highlighting artisanal craftsmanship.

Among the various plant-based "leathers" available today, grape skin leather offers a refined and elegant texture. Similar to animal leather, grape marc leather shares qualities such as flexibility, durability, and resilience, with the added benefit of eco-friendly properties, being water- and energy-efficient.

Château de La Chaize collaborated with an innovative Italian supplier, a pioneer in this field, to create the grape marc leather. The crafting of each piece was entrusted to a leather artisan from the Rhône-Alpes region, who trained with Robert Clergerie. This artisan works meticulously by hand, using mechanical equipment salvaged from former shoe factories and craft workshops in Romans-sur-Isère. These tools, rich in historical value, preserve the heritage of traditional craftsmanship.

In keeping with this philosophy, the booklet included in the case was printed by a master printer and bookbinder from Dijon. Using high-quality, long-life-certified paper and organic vegetable-based inks, the booklet was finished with a handcrafted Singer red-thread binding.

This detail echoes Château de La Chaize's identity and emphasizes the exceptional character of this Beaujolais cru.
